A bit of fun : Are you a 🦖 or 🦧 ???

Body proportions may sometimes prevent us from achieving a final tip of a certain difficult pose or make it more challenging but if this is the case they will probably offer distinct advantages in others.

A couple of fun facts about your arms:

1. forearms are pretty much the length of your foot! 🦶
2. the length of your wing span middle finger to middle finger is the same as your height! 🦋

If you wonder where your arms are in proportion to the rest of you..
1. Sit on the floor
2. Legs straight out in front
With your fingers on the ground and heals of the hands in line with the back edge of your bod then begin to push the heals of the hands down while keeping your spine completely straight! ...
1. if the heals of the hands touch and the spine and arms are completely straight then you are mr average 😴
2. if the heals of the hands won’t touch without rounding your spine you join me in the T. rex club 🦖 .. you will probably find binds much more challenging
3. if the elbows bend and the spine is completely straight you can go join the orangutan 🦧 group - you may find headstand and scorpion harder

You don’t need a long practice to shift your pram just consistency.
This 15-min set wakes the spine, clears the mind, and opens the heart 💛

Tune in: Ong Namo
1. Spinal Flex ~ Inhale forward, exhale back. Awakens the spine + boosts circulation.
2. Spinal Twist ~ Hands on shoulders, inhale left, exhale right. Balances energy + detoxifies.

🌸✨ Happy Diwali ✨🌸

Although I’m not Hindu, Sikh or Jain the message behind Diwali is too beautiful and necessary right now not to be acknowledged.

The Indian festival of Deepavali (Diwali) is a 5 day celebration of light and hope. Today, the most sacred of these 5 day for most, falls on the new moon of Kartika, the darkest night of the year when light is most needed and most powerful.
 The word Deepavali means a row of lamps, symbols of guidance, faith, and renewal.

Across the globe Indian, South Asian cultures and others celebrating Diwali light their homes with lamps, colour, and warmth, inviting brightness and harmony into every space. And use this time to reflect with gratitude and to trust that goodness will always find its way back.

In Hindu traditions, the divine feminine is honoured. Among the deities celebrated is one of favs Lakshmi, the goddess of love, prosperity, and grace. Her presence reminds us that true abundance flows from compassion, generosity, and wisdom, not from material wealth.

Many also observe Chopda Pujan, a ritual of new beginnings, lighting candles, offering prayers, setting intentions, and inviting clarity for the year ahead.

A gentle reminder that each day offers a chance to begin again.

May this season of light bring
peace where there is turmoil,
hope where there is despair,
and warmth where there is fear.
 May your inner light
shine brightly and ripple outward,
illuminating the path
for yourself and for others.

Beautiful Kefalonia with @yoasyogaretreats 🫶

It’s hard to capture the magic of what happens on a retreat. There’s always something so unique, the gentle unravelling of bodies and souls through 3–4 hours of mindful connection each day, sharing energy, softening a little more as the days go by and getting to know themselves and each other that bit deeper.

Laughter, tears, courage, the quiet moments and the transformations are all so beautiful. 🌿

@viglavillage you were just perfect, and after those biblical storms, when the sun finally appeared on day three, it felt like a rebirth. 😵‍💫🤗😜

Eagle in the sea 🦅🌊

Grateful for the warmth on my skin, for the salt in the air, and for the way the energy begins to settle after a week of holding space for twenty souls.

I arrived tired, after illness and a few heavy weeks, unsure how it would feel to lead when I still felt in need of holding myself. But yoga, as always, meets you where you need to be.

And while I’m called the teacher, my aim isn’t simply to guide others. It’s to share the tools and practices that have helped me navigate the world a little more gently. Years of learning, falling, returning and remembering have taught me that yoga’s true power is in how it helps us live, not just how we move.

Each person arrived with their own story, their own expectations, their own needs. Watching them arrive, discover, immerse and then emerge lighter, clearer, more connected brought me so much joy. That quiet unfolding is the true gift each retreat holds.

I leave this place with my cup more full, my heart softer, and my trust in this path and its endless teachings even deeper.

Lately it hasn’t felt right to share highlights ~ not when the world feels like it’s burning 🔥
As an empath my heart feels heavy with the weight of suffering and toxicity all around.

But yesterday I stepped away into the autumn sunshine 🌞🍂 for a slow nourishing 75 minute practice (not at 100 miles an hour as it looks in the vid😵‍💫)

And in that stillness I was reminded yoga is medicine 💫

It doesn’t erase the pain of the world but it steadies us through it
Every breath shifts something inside
Every movement calls us home to ourselves 🧘‍♀️

Autumn teaches us the same lesson ~ to slow down to release what we cannot carry and to keep walking forward with lighter steps 🍁

Even in heavy times it matters that we show up
Not to look away or be silent
But to tend the inner flame ✨
To shift the inner dialogue
To plant the seeds of change

With hearts wide open we can meet the challenges of this earth 🌍 with courage & love ❤️

Isn’t that the most beautiful thing ….
How multi faceted the practise is 💜🙏🏼

When you need softness, it holds you.
When you want flow, it carries you.
When you’re ready for strength, it ignites the fire within.
It opens the heart, expands, soothes, transforms… always offering what you need in that moment.

This summer has been fairly challenging, I cannot lie.

The weather has been beautiful 💛🙏🏼 and for that I’m grateful but sharing here has sometimes felt a little fruitless under the weight of the world.
My practice, too, has shifted… more breath, more meditation, and most days just a gentle 20 minutes asana practise.

This morning for the first time in a while I wanted to try a stronger pose inspired by @zoneinyoga and @juleeyoga. They made it look effortless and while i didn’t find it easy the attempt felt good: embracing the challenge, the wobbles, the effort, and the reminder that every pose is a process.

Turning. Shifting. Transforming.

🧘‍♀️🌳☀️It’s been an incredible summer term for our lakeside classes @bucklandparklake. Week after week, we’ve managed to hold all five classes outdoors ☀️🙏🏼, and almost every session, even those who’ve been coming for years, still comment on what’s a breathtaking oasis the lake is ~ how each week each class feels like a mini break and proper pause and reset.

I’m hopeful we’ll be able to squeeze in a few more outdoor classes in the autumn term. But even when we move back into our little studio, just walking through the park to get there feels like stepping stepping into a sanctuary.

I teach 4 days a week : Tues am, Thurs (am & pm) Fri am, Sat am

I offer term time weekly classes as either courses (at a cheaper rate with a guaranteed weekly space) or as drop-in sessions.

Next term I have spaces on the following courses:

Tues 9:30am ~ Gentle Yoga A slower-paced class where you can modify and adapt your practice to feel as challenged or supported as you need. Ideal for beginners, those newer to yoga, or anyone who enjoys a more mindful pace.

Sat 10.10 ~All Levels Vinyasa A mid-paced flow suitable for all levels, with options to explore deeper challenges if you wish.

Thurs ~ 6:30pm Kundalini  This beautiful practice is wonderful for finding emotional balance (which, let’s be honest, we could all use!) and for creating a sense of shift or renewal in your life. If you’re curious about trying Kundalini, your first class is free.

Yesterday was Guru Purnima, a day to honour the teachers, guides, and quiet nudges of wisdom that help us find our way when things feel a little unclear. I guess a time to reflect on what you feel has shaped you.

In the yogic tradition, the Guru isn’t always a formal teacher. It can be light that lifts, the voice that reminds us of what matters, whether it comes from within or through the words of another.That light has taken many forms in my life. Wise teachers, conversations , even a book or song that arrived at that right time.

Tradition says:
The Guru is Brahma, the creative spark.
The Guru is Vishnu, the steady support.
The Guru is Shiva, the one who clears the way for change.

3 of my most significant spiritual influencers in human decoration ~

✨ Mano, my teacher of 10 years, who brought depth to everything he shared. Sitting here in his favourite pose, box splits - I thank you 🙏🏼

✨ The early, quiet presence of Meher Baba, which gently planted the seed of spirituality in my childhood. I thank you 🙏🏼

✨ The Buddhist teachings that helped carry me through my 30s with gentleness and clarity.
I thank you 🙏🏼

I’m deeply grateful for all the light I’ve received. And I hope to keep learning how to live it, and share it gracefully.

The skies opened, the winds rolled in… and still, we carried on.
With the support of family 🥰, friends🥰, and a whole lot of heart ♥️, we remained positive, wiggled and jiggled things about, stayed grounded and everything flowed.

And YOU came 🫶🙏🏼
You embraced being outside.
You believed in the experience.
You arrived with such open hearts it nearly made me cry and you helped to turn a wild weather day into something unforgettable.

Benefits: provides an energy boost, increases oxygen flow, increases concentration, strengthens ad muscles, increases blood flow, stimulates nervous system, calms and uplifts, stimulates abdominal organs, clears energy channels, improves digestion.

Here are 4 of my go to breathwork energy boosters

💀 KAPLABHATI - shining skull breath
Seated of kneeling
Deep breath in through the nose as you exhale through the nose pull the tummy back..
The inhale will enter automatically as you relax the abdomen. 20/30 rounds of breath .. a small breath in retaining the breath at the end will help dizziness pass ...

😊 BREATH OF JOY 😃
Stand or kneel
Inhale 1/3 capacity lift arms, 2/3 arms to side, 3/3 arms up again Open your mouth and exhale completely through nose and mouth with an audible sigh or ha, bending the knees if you are standing

🔥 BREATH OF FIRE 🔥
During Breath of Fire, you sniff the breath in and out so you sound like a Train. Breaths are equal lengths And Like kapalabhati The exhale requires you to contract your abdominal muscles. The pattern of your breathing is more important than the speed. So, start slow if you’re new to the technique.
Do two rounds of 30 seconds, retain the breath at the end to help dizziness pass

🦍 GORILLA BREATH 🦍
Not quite as official 9 as the others but awesome fun.. and very releasing. Breathing in and out through the mouth giving a short sharp hit of oxygen to the heart and the lungs then holding the exhale out at the and then inhaling and holding for a pause .. this one is SO much fun and. A great release !!

Please cautious with any breath work if if you have high blood pressure, have head or eye injuries or disease. Or are pregnant. Stop and breathe normally if you feel dizzy

✨ It was an honour to host another beautiful ReWilding at Buckland Park Lake last Sunday evening in celebration of the Summer Solstice.

The land held us. The lake mirrored us. The wild reminded us.
The wind shook us

The land held us. The lake mirrored us. The wild reminded us.
The wind shook us
Thank you to everyone who joined us for every breath, every step, every soft return to presence, to nature, to ourselves🌿

My next forest event will be Yoga in the Wild on July 6th with live music by the exquisitely beautiful and talented @emily_young_heart_yoga , a fireside cacao ceremony and a sound bath under the forest canopy.

Its time to shine our light more brightly ✨☀️

Summer solstice is a point when the sun stands at its highest point &
invites to connect with the light
To reconnect to what really matters and not turn our backs.

I watched a beautiful speech by @gabormatemd that helped my heavy heart feel less like a burden

His words have stayed with me:

“It’s impossible to have your eyes open and not have your heart broken
So I hope your heart is broken every day
If your heart is broken that’s a tribute to you
Even if you feel brokenhearted and hopeless and in despair
Don’t let that get to you
You have a larger goal here
To contribute to the light and the truth in the world”

Lets remember that when we shine together we illuminate so much brighter ☀️☀️☀️☀️🙏🏼
As a collective let’s dream ~ no let’s MANIFEST a world unbroken where we flourish side by side.

And it’s okay to feel scared.
It’s okay to feel angry.
It means your heart is still open.
It means you care.

It needs people who feel deeply.

Who process, transform, and support.

This chaos we’re witnessing is driven by ego, greed, fear, control.
But disconnection and suppression aren’t the answers.
⁣
✨Let yourself feel it all.
✨The sense of being unstable
✨The rage rise
✨Process it .. feel it
✨And then let it go

🌀There are many paths — but yoga is the one I know.
All forms of yoga offer medicine.
But right now, Kundalini is my most powerful tool for release and transformation🌀
⁣
It invites in the full spectrum of emotion.
It shakes loose what’s stuck.
It returns you to your centre and to your breath, your truth, your light.
⁣
From that place, we can:
💛Stand strong in the storm
💫 Shine our light for others
💛Speak wisdom
💫 Radiate love
💛 Be peace
💫 Teach by example

Last week on retreat we came to the mat with no plan ~ just open hearts, curious minds, and a willingness to move together. What unfolded was a conversation through breath, balance, and shared trust.

Partner yoga is a reminder that movement doesn’t always need careful planning. Sometimes the best flows are the ones you feel into, in the moment.

It was fun, intuitive and real.

RA MA DA SA – The Healing Mantra 🕊️✨ 🐍This is one of my fav and the most powerful healing meditations in Kundalini Yoga. It cuts through space and time — aligning us with the sun, moon, earth, and the infinite spirit.

It can be used as a healing prayer for friends, family and yourself
This week I have been offering it out to my lovely poorly dad.

TO BEGIN - Sit in easy pose (like me) or in a chair, feet connected to the earth, spine nice and tall and chin pulled back slightly.

EYES - closed gaze in and up to the third eye point

MUDRA - Elbows bent down by sides, tucked into the ribs, palms extend out at a 45 degree angle flat but not rigid

THE MANTRA CONSISTS OF 8 SOUNDS - Each round repeated with one breath- and then a deep inhale and exhale and continue for 11 minutes if possible.  ✨RA – the Sun: life force, strength, energy ✨MA – the Moon: intuition, compassion, calm ✨DA – the Earth: grounding, support, stability ✨ SA – Infinity: the cosmic, spiritual dimension ✨ SAY – Personal embodiment of the Infinite ✨ SO HUNG – “I am That”: Unity with the Divine
 Come back to this, again and again.

all a reminder of how incredible the world is.

THE BEAUTY OF YOGA THAT MAKES IT SO UNIQUE AND SO COMPLETE.

Yoga isn’t something we just “do.” It’s a way of being — a deep remembering. Beneath the noise of thought, movement, and effort, there’s a quiet pulse — an invitation back to what’s always been there: awareness, stillness, presence.

The word yoga comes from yuj, to unite — but not just in body and breath. It speaks to the deeper union bettween the self we think we are and the self that simply is. That quiet, unchanging consciousness beneath the surface of doing.

And yet, yoga is also practice — something we return to, again and again. Not for instant results or perfect shapes, but for refinement, devotion, and intimacy with our own inner life.

In the Yoga Sutras, Patanjali speaks of abhyasa — the steady tending of practice over time, with sincerity. This is the heart of transformation. Through movement, breath, and stillness, we clear space to feel more, notice more, be more.

Yoga is part of a long, ever evolving tapestry — shaped across centuries, by seekers, saints, rebels and everyday practitioners. Influences from Hatha, Tantra, Buddhism, Sufism, even Christian monastic traditions echo through its forms. It’s never been fixed — it shifts, expands, adapts. Just like us.

Today, yoga lives in so many forms: on beaches and in basements, on screens and in studios, whispered in chants or streamed across multiple apps. It’s a culture — and is one one that whilst it reflects our time still holds a lineage of depth and devotion. The rituals we create, the language we speak, the ways we gather — they’re all part of how yoga lives and breathes.

I am having a short break over Easter and then will be back for the first half of the summer term which starts on 22nd April ✨✨✨

🌅 Sunrises, 🌄 sunsets, 🌿 the Spring Equinox, 🏊‍♀️ swimming, and so much more… every moment felt special.

We started with the energising contrast of sauna & cold water plunge @saunawithsavu , sipped heart-opening @ritual_cacao cacao lovingly prepared by @luketv , moved our bodies through a soulful chakra flow, and surrendered to the healing power of sound vibrations.

🔥 Every moment a reminder of what it truly means to be alive. ✨

We wrapped it all up with a delicious brunch & breathtaking views @thereverie_bucklandparklake ~ because connection and nourishment are part of the practice too 🤗

If you’d told me 10 years ago that I’d be able to sit in 0.9°C water for 4 minutes—and actually be comfortable—I would’ve thought you were absolutely Billy Bonkers. 🤯❄️

I used to avoid the cold at all costs—layering up, dreading winter, staying indoors. But learning to embrace the cold has been a game changer. Not just for my health, but for my mindset too. Instead of resisting it, I lean in. And the craziest part? I actually enjoy it now. 🔥

I wouldn’t go without these sessions. On the days I’m away and miss it… boy, do I feel it.

But this isn’t just about cold water. It’s about realizing what we’re capable of.
